Warning Signs of Online Scams

It is not so surprising to learn that some people get scammed at some point in their quest to find an online opportunity.  I started my quest for online success back in 2008, and I’ve been ripped off…more than once…I might add.  This is why I am writing this article to help YOU to spot the warning signs of online scams.

Let’s face it, if we are looking for an online business opportunity, it would stand to reason that we don’t want to squander our hard-earned money in the first place, right. So, what do we do? We look for those opportunities that we can afford to invest a little…not much…just a little.  There is nothing worse than paying for something and getting nothing in return, right?  Some slick marketer take your money with promises, but you get nothing in return…I speak from experience on this.

Top 5 Warning Signs of Online Scams

  1. Outrageous Promises. Like I said, my online quest began in 2008. There is no get rich quick formula out there. If there were, we would all be rich.  Anyone promising that you can make thousands of dollars in days, weeks, or even months is a scam.  If something is too good to be true, it probably is. Scam Alert!
  2. Unable to Contact. Quite frankly, If I am spending my money, I should be able to contact the company.  If a company cannot provide an easy way to contact them if needed, then they don’t deserve my business. That goes for any kind of business. They will take your hard-earned money, and leave you to fend for yourself.  Scam Alert!
  3. Upsells, Upsells, Upsells. I only believe and support “try before you buy”. Wealthy Affiliate, for example, allows you to try before you buy…absolutely no obligation.  Of course, you will see the benefit right away. So, you buy the product for a low cost, which you think is great, then here comes the upsells.  I mean one upsell fine…but before you know it. You thought the product is only $10, but you end up spending $300.  Scam Alert!
  4. Too Many Guarantees. If the sales page has “money back guarantee” all over the page, run for the hills.  For example, 30-day or 60-day guarantee.  From my experience, these companies make it so difficult to obtain the details to get your money back.  Guess what? You won’t get your money back.  Another thing companies will do is to offer you the 30-day money back guarantee, but tells you that it will take 60 days for you to see results…Ummmmm what?  To be safe, stay away…Scam Alert!
  5. Fake Pictures. Please we know that is not you, that is not your million-dollar mansion, that is not your Ferrari, and that is certainly not you on vacation with your laptop.  SCAM…SCAM, SCAM.  So, you are on the landing page, you see a million-dollar mansion, or someone sitting on the beach with their laptop; you think I want that too.  Guess what that is what they are banking on, that is to reel you in.  If they are selling quality products, there is no need for fake pictures and showing off.  The product(s) is all they would need to show…try before you buy, remember…Well I really like the pictures of the private jets though…

Psst:  Here is a bonus. If a Big Shot…Guru…whatever you want to call HIM is endorsing a product that is not HIS product, that means that he is getting paid to do it. Don’t take the bait.  Not only will this product’s price be unreasonable, but there is a big chance that the sales pitch is just hype.

My Last Words

If something appears too good to be true, then it probably is. There is no get rich quick formula out there. You can find a legitimate way to work at home, but you will have to work hard. Your results will only be as good as your time and effort

  • Never thought about the “difficult to contact” angle but that makes perfect sense. If it’s a scam run from some call center or place like that elsewhere, it’s unlikely they’d have real and available staff, or if you did happen to reach someone, things would look fishy right away. enlightening post!
